We started with a cold week that rained smaller amounts...1/3" to 1/2" with 20's at night. Then, it warmed to the mid-high 30's at night, and rained really hard. This morning alone it rained an inch and a half.
Supposedly, we will only be getting rain next week on Monday. That makes me wonder if it really will be warmer at night, but one can hope that they are correct.
I had a lovely conversation with my aunt on Thursday evening. So did Dh. They spoke around 40 mins. before I got the phone, lol! You know that you're really part of the family when...! She will be 90 on her birthday this year, I believe...I'd have to do math to be sure, but I think so. She just got a new great-granddaughter in December and is pleased as punch. That conversation really made my week. Oh, and she said that the Dr.
that she worked for when I was growing up is still alive and being independent. In a few weeks, he will be 105. He always tells her to eat yogurt, and 3-4 slices of pickled beets a day.
The frogs have gone crazy since we've had more rain. We have more varieties than ever, with their unique calls.
Dh came in the house the other day, and said that he was going to reclaim our defendable space. There are bushes and trees growing on the hill to this pad from the bottom of the driveway. So, he's been pulling and cutting/digging brush and small trees. It's still not easy, but with the ground saturated he can do a little each day. It's a big project, but an important one.
Well, Thyri starts her new pre-school next Thursday. Hopefully, she will like it as much as she did the other one.
A tree company working with PG&E called, and asked to talk about 3 trees, which they say are nearly dead. 1 madrone, and 2 large black oaks. If they are truly dead, then they may cut them. So, in the middle of the week we were doing something and Krypto sounded startled and let out a volley of barks.
Apparently, a woman working with the company has a quiet (electric?) vehicle, and my driveway alarm is being charged...we do it once a year, so while talking, having on the radio, etc. we didn't hear her.
The thing was, that she didn't think to step back from the kitchen door when a 90+ lb. GSD was standing on it and barking pretty seriously. Then, on Friday morning, when we were expecting the tree cutters, she called to let us know that she forgot to schedule them. That's her job, btw. I hate to say that someone's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but if one was to say it about someone, she might just be the one to choose...! Sheesh!
It occured to Ds that, if the new dog stays, we'll have to change the information on her microchip. I don't believe that she'd come from the HS without a microchip. But, even if we don't/can't keep her, I need to tell whomever adopts her, if it's a family, to do that. I've got a list going for little details like that.
Well, I'm thinking of baking something for the weekend. My plans for dinner fell through, so I'm considering cupcakes. Currently, I'm thinking of carrot cake, so that may be it. The chickens were nice enough to give us quite a few eggs this week, I have cinnamon and cardamon, and carrots, so I am ready to go!
Well, that's all from this neck of the woods. How was your week?
