Answer: Sherwood Forest was the home of the tenth U.S. president, John Tyler. The plantation was originally known as Smith's Hundred before Tyler purchased it and renamed it "Sherwood Forest," referring to his reputation as a political outlaw. The "real" Sherwood Forest is a woodland in Nottinghamshire, England, famous as the home of legendary folk hero and political outlaw Robin Hood. Tyler resided at Sherwood Forest until his death in 1862, and his family still owns the property. At almost 300 feet in length, it is believed to be the longest frame house in America.

In that vein...you know the European castles with the corkscrew staircases? It was difficult for a man to go up those stairs safely because he couldn't use his sword hand going up, the way that they were built. Unless, he was a lefthander. Left handed swordsman had an easy time going up the steps with their swords drawn.
