My Dad's mother had a piano and when still in New Jersey I was allowed to play it. I was a child so made no music just noise. 8-) But Gramma had a big house and the piano was in the front room so no one heard my "music." 8-)
She also had a large screened in front porch and her home was a Victorian amidst many Victorians. I was able to sleep on the porch and listen to my Uncle Bob play the piano.
He was one of a few people that were allowed to play the Macy's organ. It was spectatular shopping with that huge organ's music floating through the air. My mother took me with her to go shopping.... I was dressed to the 9's from birth through high school (except I would roll my awful skirts up while walking to school.
Friends of my parents & aunts & uncles would take me to lunch at the Elks and other fancy restaurants. I was not spoiled but was taught to be a lady as soon as I could walk & talk. I had a biarre childhood to say the least!
I still fall back into my training when around groups of people. Weird! Very, very weird!
