We had a mixed week, but mostly it was a little cooler. There were a lot of clouds this week, which is probably why the temperature was down, but mostly the thunder storms predicted did not manifest. The concern was, of course, the warmth and winds, which are a bad combination with lightning. There have already been a couple of fires this week.
Tomorrow through Monday there will be small chances of showers and thunder storms again, then clearing after that. The days will probably be in the mid-high 80's.
I am back in the boat of making an angel food cake, due to the healthy laying of eggs by the chickens. I am not sure how well it freezes, compared to other cakes, but we're going to find out!
Thyri had her first day at nursery school on Friday, as compared to day care. This is divided by age groups, it's more structured by time and activity, there's supervised and adult-led activities, exercise, healthy snack breaks, instruments, sharing time, and so forth, so that children won't have any trouble adjusting to kindergarten, when the time comes. She seemed to really like her first day.
A sheriff came by a couple of days ago to return more property. In this case, it was a necklace that I used to sell, and a Christmas ornament that's made with a gemstone. Amazing.
We have a beautiful little wildflower, which I have never seen it before this year. So far, it's standing up well to being in a vase - read that as small pill bottle of water. It's a purple pom shaped flower with no detectable scent.
I've been going through some photos that we found down at the house. I guess that the thieves dug them out of totes. There are hundreds of them. I'm glad that most are in good condition. Some are even polaroids. I need to get a scanner to save them, since there are no negatives, of course.
A lot are of family, of course, but I even have a couple that I don't remember. Two are of one of our cats as a kitten, which I didn't know that we had. We had him 25 years ago, and I'm thrilled to have it. This weekend I have to finish looking at them, to see what all's there, then divide them in groupings. I'm so lucky to have them!
Also, we have been going over items that we could never identify if they were stolen. So, we are planning to make a list, and then taking photos of items and also their serial numbers and such. For example, how would we identify out T.V. from anyone elses? My Vitamix, or even Cricket.
Also, pieces of jewelry that were never photographed, etc.
It's extra work, but worth it.
Our deer herd currently includes at least 8 individuals, we discovered. We counted them down on the road, and again here in the yard. There may be more, but for now that's what we're seeing.
I heard a loud noise and couldn't figure it out the other day. It turned out to be a large raven on the roof and against the house. I have no idea what he was doing, but it sure was noisy, whatever it was.
Well, I am heading off to try to de-must some albums of stamps that we got from an old man decades ago in L.A. The thieves tossed them out the back door into rain soaked grass, so they got wet. I have a couple of books to do, as well.
I'm going to try the following in totes with the albums/books: baking soda, cat litter, and charcoal. I'm hoping that one will work.
Then, I need to wrap Ds's birthday present, and make my angel food cake.
Well, that's all from this neck of the woods! How was your week?
