I agree. I was resistant to listening to 'country' music for a while, because I associated it with the twangy-type that my grandfather listened to. To each their own, but it just wasn't my cup of tea growing up.
It was a big surprise to me when I heard The Judds, Patty Lovelace, Alan Jackson, George Strait, etc. in the late 80's/early 90's. I already knew people like Reba and Dolly Parton, of course.
