Yikes. When I see a dead rodent that's not injured, I always worry that they ate rat poison and got to my place. The big worry for me, of course, is that one of my pets, or a wild animal, will eat it with the poison in it.
Also, my other concern are diseases like bubonic plague. A woman in L.A. - this was on the news - saw and went by a dead animal. It was small, like a squirrel or rat, and the woman ultimately died of bubonic plague. The problem is that the animals have fleas, and as the body loses temperature, the fleas look for another host, such as joggers and regular home owners.
So, be careful, please. At least if the animal is wounded, we know what happened to them...
