Momo mentioned liking pumpkins as decoration.
With Halloween on the way, I looked at some decorations online, just wanting to get some cool ideas. What I quickly realized, was that I didn't like most Halloween decorations currently popular, at all.
Ds and I spoke, and he said that he felt the same, that the decorations, as compared to the ones when he was growing up, are too gory or scary for little ones. Thyri, apparently, was frightened by a noise making monster at some place of business. (She seems to be over it now.)
So, I asked myself what I thought of as fun Halloween decorations.
Like Momo, pumpkins are right at the top of the list.
Then, I borrowed from what I cut out of construction paper. Full moons, *black cats, non-horrible witches, little bales of hay to go with the pumpkins, etc. Not very threatening, is it? Then again, I watch Halloween movies for kids pretty much. I don't watch horror movies.
* About black cats and Halloween. I only have depictions of them in the house, if at all. I don't like to bring out the connection between Halloween and black cats, of which I've always had one or more. People are horrible to animals, and Halloween is a time that brings those people out of the cracks. I approve of the pounds not adopting out black cats/kittens at this time of the year.
In fact, I always make sure that any black cats that I had/have, spend the nights leading up to Halloween indoors. I would medicate a cat to make sure of that, though I've never had to.
Anyway, do you like similar decorations, or others? I've probably forgotten some good ones.
Btw, do pumpkin pies and roasted pumpkin seeds, both from pumpkins, count as decorations? I'd love some pumpkin pies around. Festive and tasty!
