We got the promised heat the past 4 days. It was well over 100, but the nights were comfortable. It should still be hot today, pretty hot tomorrow, then dramatically drop on Monday and Tuesday, when it will likely rain, at least a bit. Then, after that, the rest of the week should be moderate.
Last year at this time, we saw bugs and birds that I associate with a little earlier in the summer. Well, I'm seeing them again this year. It's something unique to up here.
First, I began seeing butterflies. Then, quite a few dragonflies. Now, various birds. Someone said that they saw a unique variety of kingfisher. I don't think that we'll see them unless we get closer to the creek, but I'm looking anyway! Someone else took photos of a variety of waxwings, so I keep looking, and also listening for birdsongs that I don't know. So far, I am hearing my usual suspects - hawks, bluejays, phoebes, hummingbirds, etc.
Last night, we saw some type of animal on the road. I might have thought that it was a deer, but it didn't move like one, and disappeared in a way that deer don't usually. As it looked fairly tawny, I'm going to guess that it was a mountain lion. They are handsome, but I appreciate them more when they are farther from us, thanks anyway.
I am moving a little better this week, hooray! It's been close to a month. I'm so glad to be able to breathe with less pain, reach for something with pain but less so, etc. I'm being super careful, because I want to heal, not re-injure.
I am having soup tonight, yeah! I have 'soup base' (already cooked carrots, onion, meat, celery, cabbage, etc.) in the freezer for this month, once a week. I have my chicken broth that I add to it, and tonight we're probably going to add elbow noodles for the carb.
So, Powerball was 1.4 billion - with a 'B' - dollars as of yesterday. The drawing is tonight. I don't know how much a ticket is, maybe $2.? And, as they said, which made me laugh, there are the insignificant smaller prizes as well, of course. From $4. to $2 million dollars, lol! Oh, is that all? I would love to win the big prize, because of how much good I could do with it for animal welfare, etc., but I wouldn't be sad at winning $2. million dollars! lol!
Well, I'm off to go through my garden seeds. I've been dividing the packs in ziploc bags by month to plant them. Then, I need to go through, and divide into cloves, planting garlic.
How was your week?
