We had a very different weather week this week. We had 3 very hot days, over 100. The rest weren't bad. The nights were moderate, with chilly feeling mornings. It's going to cool down considerably this weekend and next week: 60's - 80's with possible rain this weekend and another day next week. This past week, our rain, all told, was just over 1/2".
As you know, we finally won the battle to get our health insurance back, or new ins. in my case. Dh still hasn't bounced back after having his medication cut back. I was really worried about him yesterday. I guess that it's like starting the med. over.
Thyri and the other pre-schoolers took a field trip to the firehouse this week, then had a fire drill. Then, the local bank had a children's day where they could open bank accounts - with parents, not the school - meet the mascot and get a photo taken with him, and get stickers at the ATM machine. Great, I'm going to have to ask a 3 year old how to do modern banking, lol! She felt the drill was too loud, but loved the bank.
Oh, and her class painted small pumpkins. I don't remember painting pumpkins being a *thing* when I was growing up, but it makes sense...no sharp implements in the hands of 3 and 4 year olds. I would have been drawing faces on with a Sharpie if someone said to decorate pumpkins.
Ds, who picked her up today said that hers was the prettiest one (lol!) because the other children mixed their colors making muddy colored pumpkins, whereas Thyri just used pink, so it stood out as a clean color. Ahhhh, parents. (Though I've seen muddy color mixes. Not the most attractive.)
I saw an article about artists of various types and their ages. Scorcese made a new movie, The Rolling Stones have a new album, etc. Scorcese and Mick Jagger, as well as Barbra Streisand. etc. are all 80 or older. Shocking, but also kind of inspirational.
Ds took home that Picture Keeper drive so that he can figure it out for me. I can't seem to make the photo program part work, and decided that I was struggling needlessly. If it works, he'll know pretty quickly. But, probably not until Sunday, as he is up and out really early, and home late from his jobs. I'm looking forward to using it once he tells me how.
Poor Hira just has such issues. She's as good as ever, she was just abused through her life. She seems to be at her most content when she's going to be fed, and when Uhura lays down close to her on the couch. She must have really been bonded to the cat in her previous home.
We saw - and heard - tke Canadian Geese heading out for the winter in a nice 'V' formation.
The coyotes are still around. Except for domestic animals, I don't mind them. But, dogs, cats, and young farm animals are not safe around them. Well, domestic animals and small children like Thyri. They are in a definite pack with several individuals.
There's a cat coming in the yard that we've not seen. We heard a cat "fight" (no injury to Dandy.) and Uhura was asleep on my feet, so it wasn't her. The Siamese? Another cat?
Well, I'm off to study making jam with stevia. Somehow, when Dh didn't have that heart medication, his blood sugar went very high - without him changing his diet. Stress on the body?
Regardless of why, he asked me to find him stevia sweetened jams to go with his Sunbutter, but I also came across recipes for making my own. So, I'm off to study it.
That's about all from this neck of the woods; how was your week?
