If you bought a 28 lb. bag, vs. a 14 lb. bag + a 5 lb. bag, you would need to buy it every 6 weeks, and it would save you about $10.70 per month. A couple of dollars more if you used auto ship.
The 2 largest sized bags come out to about $1.75 a lb.
The 14 lb. bag comes out to around $2.14 a lb.
And, the 5 lb. bag comes out to about $2.80 per lb.
Plus, if you put the food on a 6 week auto ship, you will save about $16. more per year.
That will save you somewhere between $128.-$145.76 per year. Maybe, done that way, you won't have to change Charlie's food? I know that he does well on it.
Personally, I dread changing foods each time that I do, trying to balance 'good' food with less good food...meeting what I want for ingredients, what works well for the dogs, and what I can afford. It's not easy these days.
I get very tired of that trend. It actually began a while ago, in the supermarket, for people food. Suddenly, cans of vegetables cost the same, but a lot of the 16 oz. cans became 14.something oz. And, it's continued. You have to really pay attention to ozs./lbs. vs. $ amounts to catch it.
I got a container with an easy-open lid on Amazon a couple of years ago, which holds 30 lbs. of dog food. It keeps it dry, bug-free, and away from all critters...domestic and wild.
It worked so well that I eventually got one for the cat food, too. So, having the extra food, once you open it, isn't as much of an issue.
