1 - The original, with a part in the front...between the eyes and below.
2 - The more modern version, which has a slope at the forehead/eyes, leaving the muzzle straight.
3 - The much newer Roman nose, where the slope cont. past the eyes, sloping the muzzle under.
At one time, that was just a line, the Ormandy line. People liked it, or didn't, and life went on.
But, somewhere along the way, I suspect when a Roman-nosed bull became popular as Spuds Mackenzie in the commercials, people went crazy breeding that type, and it's now the most popular type. Kind of like the thin, whippy Siamese cats becoming the norm suddenly, over the ones that we all grew up with.
I had a white Ormandy line in the 80's named Spuds. (We didn't name him, he was a rescue from the owner.) The modern dogs can be quite large!
