We've had several colors...including the brown, and of them all, I liked the personality of the darker ones the best, though I still did adore the others.
We often joke about it, but it seems to be true that cats gravitate to people who don't care for them. My personal theory is that someone who doesn't care for cats acts exactly as cats do/want us to...aloof, letting them make the first move, the type of eye contact - or lack thereof - that they prefer, etc.
Well adjusted family cats enjoy being with their people, but I'm not sure that they ever get used to our forward behavior with coming at them uninvited, scooping them up at our pleasure, etc. They are happy to get that attention once they are there, but they do tend to want to be the ones to make the first move/meow, etc.
They sound delightful.
