It's a kind of long, and involved story, but I'll try not to make it longer than it has to be.
Ds met a man, maybe a couple of weeks ago, who was living out of his car with 2 dogs. His plates were Nevada, so he was just going through. He'd had 3 dogs, but one had gotten from the car, and was hit by another car. He offered Ds one of the 2 dogs. A terrier mix.
When a decision wasn't made fast enough, he turned the dog into the pound. I suggested that they could foster the dog, with intent to keep him. If he didn't suit them, they could place him.
They went to the pound, but a dog had died of parvo, so the dogs were quarantined. And, they were told that the dog can't live with cats, according to the owner. Ddil has 2 cats.
So, they waited for the pound to re-open, and chose to meet a couple of other dogs today.
And, they did. But, they also got a text from the dog's original owner, and he said that the dog is fine with cats.
So, they visited the dog, I can't remember his original name, and walked him by cat cages. He didn't care at all. In the end, they did adopt him, and renamed him Frankie, I think. This all just happened.
I had hoped to meet my new granddog right away, but with the parvo issue, they are going to give it a week before letting him meet any grandparents, as we all have dogs.
Unfortunately, Ds said that he got a text from his dw, and Frankie is howling. I think that he's lonely, having lived with other dogs, and being in the pound with them. I know that the owner had said that he was looking for the dog that was hit by the car. So, some loneliness and separation anxiety is probable.
Hopefully, Ds will remember to send a photo, which I can share.
