I can see her being upset at having been left...Ananda refused to acknowledge me for two days when we would get home from the lake.
But...something is bothering me. It's like a Spidey Sense thing.
I don't mean to insult anyone that you know, but I feel as though something happened to Misty while you were gone.
Maybe whoever was keeping her didn't even realize it, or maybe doesn't think that it's important, or...maybe it's something they prefer not to share because they feel it will make them look like a bad dog-sitter?
I've had a couple of experiences that are similar to what you are going through, and it may straighten out on it's own, and just be her being upset with you, as thought.
Also, that 'vet' smell never helps. How about a bath or wipe down with some types of wet cloths for Arwen? That, plus scents that she picked up on the trip, can be aggravating Misty. Strange place, strange people, maybe other animals?
What else could it be. Here are some possibilities off the top of my head:
Misty was attacked by one of the other dogs. Sometimes dogs just do that. She obviously wasn't physically hurt...in any permanent way...but it may have affected her mentally.
Especially if it wasn't just once. Maybe one of the dogs actually tried to bully her. Even with a human stepping in, it would make for a long week of stress.
Are there any people that work for your friend that might have handled Misty in a way that wasn't conducive with what she's used to?
Is there the slightest chance that she was given something calming?
And, finally, just being stressed can cause this type of issue. Dogs sometimes have small strokes.
I'm hoping that her nose is just out of joint.
What you are doing is perfect.
Which oil are you going to try?
Oh, can you get a remnant of carpeting to roll out along Arwen's path? Just until her ex-dew claw area becomes less sensitive? I have used them before, and it's nice.
If left a long time, the grass beneath will die, but not if left for just a short while.
Love All Life, Thank You For Posting! :)
