He is a very intelligent dog. But he also learns how to manipulate me in order to go out, get more biscuits, and other charming bossy - I won't sat tricks - but dog slight of bark - rather than hand - magical talking.
I have a plastic bin in which all his ropes and balls are kept. I moved it from by the back door to my bedroom a couple of weeks ago.
Here are a few of his smart behaviors he has done lately.
I always tell Charlie to get his ball, toy when I decide to play with him. He has just balls, but also a number with straps and other attachments that keep the balls from flying away.
When I am getting ready to go outside I always tell him to get a toy. If he comes back with a ball that is not a throwing ball, I tell him to go get his outside toy.
He will go rumage in the bin and choose the one he wants, he has a number of different ones, and return to me with his choice.
I talk to him like an adult. If he has the wrong type I say, " No go get the other one." and he does.
I always ask in different words if he wants to go out. I swear he understands me. If its not time, I tell him so. And he goes and lays down.
Even Blue was never this clued in to me. We even have disagreements if he isn"t ready to go inside.
Sometimes I call him my "little man" because he acts like one. If you get my drift. Spooky, eh?
