Ds had finally, after weeks of not having time, found a day to come here and help with moving and painting doors to the next level. (They need a lot of coats, per side.)
So, he arrived this morning, and the guys got ready to go up the hill, and then down to the fields to look at some things.
Right then, ddil texted Ds from work, and said that Frankie had gotten on the counter, and eaten something. Raisins.
We didn't know how many, so Ds left, called the local market that he'd gotten it from to find out the weight (it's was a bag from a bulk bin.), and looked for stray raisins, then weighed what he had. Sure enough, some were missing.
He took him to the vet, who induced vomiting, but it had been 4 hrs. Then, they gave him fluids and charcoal w/ kaolin, and sent Ds home with another dose of charcoal. (A lot, I think that it's 60 cc's.) Apparently, raisins move slowly, so effects can take from 12-48 hrs., and, as you know, can include kidney failure.
When Ds was texting what happened to ddil, she said that there were more raisins in the trash, in the kitchen, that she'd thrown away.
So, Ds and Frankie went home, and he dug those out. He was short 25 raisins, and found....27. As it turns out, he hadn't tare'd the bag. So, it looks like Frankie didn't care for the taste of them, after trying 1 or 2.
It was too late to go to the garden, or paint, but they came by to drop something off. Frankie would have stayed home for that, but he needs to go out often right now, since getting the fluids.
Ds thought that he'd made a terrible mistake, and left a chair against the counter, as Frankie is a small dog, and needs the chair against it to get something off of it.
But, he discovered that the chair had not been against the counter. Frankie has recently learned to *jump* from a chair, across to the counter. So, that's a whole 'nother issue. I'm afraid that he'll get hurt trying to jump, and missing.
Nothing else can sit on the counter now, and maybe he won't be tempted. And, the chairs they use when they eat may be able to be turned differently.
While here, Frankie, who hasn't been here in a few weeks with one thing and another, seemed glad to see us. I got lots of petting in, and he took a little nap. This time, though, unlike the last time, was probably due to the medication in with the medication that they gave him earlier, which was morphine. It must not have been a lot, though, as he was quite alert when he wasn't napping.
Well, it's time to make us something to eat. Ds and Frankie have gone home, and Dh and I are ready for dinner. It's amazing how unexpected things can interupt your plans!
Love All Life, Thank You For Posting! :)
