Except for the coldest part of the morning, the critters seem to be enjoying the cooler weather.
Tango likes it a tad warmer on his older bones now, though. He's moved his sleeping spot to a warmer one, and one day, when he went out for a constitutional, and wouldn't come in willingly. He sat, with his face pointing toward the sun, warming himself. It's the one time that a black coat comes in handy!
Tilde had a nice birthday on the 30th, with extra playtime that she especially enjoyed.
Though, she's not been happy for a couple of days. The county roadwork's crew has been out here with huge trucks fixing the road that they messed up a few months ago.
There were gravel trucks, water trucks, vibrating rollers, etc.
They started, both days, as soon as it was light enough to see...which means, pretty early!...and she considered it an intrusion until they left each day. Shades of our work here, I guess.
I'm still not sure what caused Sluggo's weight loss, but the change in weather hasn't helped. When she wants extra wet food, I'm giving it to her, though I'm probably creating even more of a food monster. But, I want her to gain her weight back. Currently, it looks as though she *may* have put some of it back on. I hope that trend continues.
Tux's wound, that was on the side of his head and just at the base of his ear, has finally healed 100%. It was a pretty bad one, and he was on antibiotics for it twice. The ear on that side laid sideways, but now stands up like the other one. He's looking good, and acts like a prince of cats.
His gets what Ds thinks looks like a Grumpy Cat look on his face...not sure that I see that, as he lies on a raised bed with his front feet tucked beneath him (we call that muff position.) he prances/high steps when he walks, and generally looks over his kingdom when at rest.
He doesn't jump off of the porch when someone walks close to him anymore, though if you are coming from behind, you need to walk slower than you normally would.
This week, he's started to lick wet cat food every time, when you hold the container out to him.
The rest of the cats - Nefertiti, Uhura, and the Kitty Kampers, are doing fine.
Egg production is slowing down due to shorter day length, but at least the hens have finally gotten out of their fall molt. And, we still do get a few eggs each week, just not the supply that we get spring through summer.
We found a katydid up by the new house. Basically, they look like a grasshopper crossed with a green leaf.
Also, there are a ton of beetles out right now. They are black with orange lines on them. I remember them from years ago, but haven't seen them in a while.
Oh, and Frankie had fun going under the house with his dad the other day. What more could a JRT want than to go to ground...with his person? It was as if his dad had finally figured out what real fun was, lol! (Ds was fixing something for the heating system.)
Well, that's the critter news! Have a nice evening!
Love All Life, Thank You For Posting! :)
