I was worried about Sluggo the last couple of weeks, as she stopped eating for 3 days, which is out of character.
It turned out, though, that she has suddenly, completely rejected one of the 2 flavors of wet food that comes in the pack, and I don't know why, as she's generally not that picky.
Eventually, she started eating the other flavor again, and picking at the 2nd one a little. So, maybe it was a combination of her having eaten something that didn't agree with her, and changing her mind about the one flavor of food?
I decided to get 1/2 of her wet food in seafood flavors vs. the poultry that she normally prefers, and she seems to like it a lot. Whew.
One day, Ds was up in his office here, working on a map, which thrilled Uhura no end. She doesn't see him much anymore. Generally, just long enough to have him put out her food.
She spent most of the time napping on his lap (she doesn't let anyone else touch her.), but near the end, she woke up, went out, and meowed when she was back.
Ds could hear that her mouth was full when she meowed, so he shut the door just in time before she could make it in with a mouse. She played with it for a long while before she was done. She's a good huntress, but I have a difficult time appreciating cats playing with mice, or trying to bring them in. Kill mice, yes, share them and play with them, no. But, she had a good day.
We're back to having the one hen who doesn't go to bed at night. We had her going to bed for a while, so Dh didn't expect her not to the other night. But, the next morning, there she was in the chicken yard scratching around by herself.
So, it's back to scanning the fence after dark to see if she's roosting. They are hard to see at night, but if you look closely, you can see a gray form breaking up the line.
Luckily, Dh is tall enough, and has a long enough reach, that if a chicken is on the tall fence, he can still reach up and pluck her off. They are blind in low light, so they are easy to get. Which is why we don't want them out.
We got some fresh straw in the chicken yard, so that any rain won't be a problem.
Well, that's all the critter news here! Have a great day!
