Different dogs have different tones and strengths of barks. Some are easier to ignore than others.
In fact, when the kids were looking for a dog, before they re-found Frankie, they took a pass on a small mixed breed dog who's voice was ear splitting, they said. That's pretty sad for the dog, but I can understand not starting with a handicap like that. And now, with a baby on the way, it was for the best. Especially since they ended up with Frankie, after all!
I'm not a fan of ear plugs for myself, but could you use them in your radio during DFT? I don't mean the type that stop noise, but the type that go from the radio to your ears.
Although... They have foam earplugs...much more comfortable than other types. You can still hear the animals, a neighbor calling to you, etc., but it dulls the sound down to a dull roar, saving nerves, and in some cases, hearing.
So, I got back, as you can see. Whew!
