I think in MI At the train museum there was a huge engine with one car & a caboose on a track that had a circular track. People were allowed in to the car and caboose then the train drove around on the track. It was so exciting.
There were trolly cars I've been on and other forms of travel in the 50s including the first monorail at Disneyland in Anaheim.
But trains are it for me & Dd. I've taken the train from LA to SF and back 1st class on a 3 day trip with a BF. That was cool beans.
Also the train LA to SD.
Plus there were trains on the east coast and trolly cars and in SF. The subway too.
I have been on the original Metrolink going from south bay inland. And to downtown. Lol
In MN took their Metrolink version a few times.
Dd uses the CA Metrolinks and loves them.
I have always lived close enough to hear train whistles etc. Now I can't hear any thing.
Luckily DD lives near tracks and when she hears a train we both stop talking to listen.
She says, "Hear the train Mom?" And I do.
We both laugh after its passed.
At BOR I could hear trains in the distance as the one of the closest train yards was close by plus the town that use to be there was a train stop. BEAUKISS, TX was built around trains.
It was a dream of mine to take the train to NJ to see my aunt. Then return here and continue to LA to pick up Dd for a short 2 day trip on the train. Get off and return to LA. After which I would take the train back to Texas.
Sigh! Dreams are important....and it's lovely to share this one with my daughter. We still talk about doing it.
I have just decided to find a website devoted to trains and their sounds. Perhaps other fun train sites.
Its why we like the Dinosaur Train cartoons ...train sounds!
Thanks for bringing back my fave memories.
