to several battlefields and visited Georgia and Tennessee. If you ever get a chance, you should get to Shiloh, TN, and Savannah, GA. So many historic buildings and plantations were burned in Sherma's March to the Sea. If you have not studied the Civil War, you cannot understand the destruction this man caused. It wasn't just the plantation owners who suffered. The slaves and poor suffered terribly under this horrid man's effort to destroy the South. Savannah is a bit different because the people there surrendered before Sherman could destroy everything. There are so many old buildings there. It is amazing.
