Did I mention he totally ignores the two BIG dogs behind us. There is a tall wooden fence so he can't see them. But he can hear them and smell them. Not from day 1 when they moved in has he acknowledged them.
Yet they acknowledge us? him?
The only dog not accepted is his archenemy. It lives catty corner to us or uphill across the street to the South West.
There are dogs in the home directly across from us. He knows they are there but can't see them. Downhill is the dog I sit for "Pig" a Boxer.
Uphill is Belle and her male pal Bubba? And the two big dogs right behind us.
That's it for my Human Pack as well.
You're right I love each of my dogs for themselves... and still do. My fridge is covered with their photos. For me they are still very much alive - just not here.
As for Chance and his bell... it is only when I feed in the morning that it is in his food dish. I have checked at night and it's not there - nor at other times of day.
He doesn't act agitated or mad. Odd. He just waits for me to change his water and bring new seeds. I add his carrot or apple on top a bit later and he always steps aside when I bring it. He also "thanks me." It is a specific sound only at that time. I always say 'Your Welcome." Another ritual LOL.
4000' feet up - really? While Chance was born at the lowest point in a desert.
Our critters can be so interesting, aren't they?
