Excellent use for well water.
I do the same. I have levels for several things, water is one, food scraps another.
It's funny, you see cooks like Rachel Ray, who uses a bowl for all cooking trash/scraps. I can't imagine it. I have 3 containers (bags, bowls, etc.) Examples:
I clean celery, and the parts which aren't used, but can be used for soup, are in one bowl.
If it's something that I'm not using, but animals will enjoy or benefit from, such as the center stems of collards, melon pieces, etc. then it goes into a 'feed to the animals' bowl.
The parts which I don't use, and they can't have, such as onion parts, tea bags, or things which have gone too far south, go into the compost, so there's a compost bowl.
Voila, my system, lol!
The same with water. Well water can be used for many things. Most cleaning applications, wetting things for fire, such as what you did, dog baths, plant watering, etc.
Store bought drinking water...cooking and drinking, and anything else, but I don't, because it's expensive.
Store bought spring water, which is less costly than the other water...washing vegetables in, etc.
Distilled water...batteries in the battery bank.
Soon, the Primo water will replace the drinking water, and spring water.
I know that people think that it's complicated, but when you've done it for so long, and it's your own system, it's not difficult at all.
I'm glad that you were prepared, and that you got it out!! Whew!
