He was running back and forth from the front to the back chasing deer - but he was coming close to the low 3 ft fence that he could actually go over... probably break a leg for it is 8 feet to the ground on the other side.
I used my "IN CHARGE voice.. and he was better this afternoon. He just goes in to chasing mode and won't listen to me at all. I tried to grab his collar when he passed me a couple of times but couldn't get ahold at all.
Anyway... I have been trying a clicker for a couple of weeks but he ignored it. I took a whistle out but that didn't work either.
Then I put the halter on him... the leash connects mid back which gives me more control to pull him back. I have a second leash that I attach to the first one to make it longer as he behaves.
I had some hints a few days ago that he was getting full of himself - if you know what I mean.
If or when he starts to act up he will go in the house and the next time he goes out it will be on a lead.
He also has gained some weight due to the Pedigree Adult food I had to buy. So this week I will use the last of it. I haven't given him much but he's be putting on weight since I first had to buy it.
The heat is keeping us from walking as much so that hasn't helped either.
So wish us luck... he is coming to close to the low fence and I am annoyed that he is now jumping up on the retaining wall all the time. He knows better then that. I end up having to climb via the gate post and a couple of hugh Fossils to make my way up there. LOL At least I am getting quicker at that.
I won't chase him per say and hate yelling at him. But this has to stop.
Love All Life, Thank You For Posting! :)
