The Kitty Kampers are 'wild pets' from 10 years ago.
Mamou came in closer and closer one summer, after being on his own. He was very thin by the time he came in closer and would eat.
Uhura spent (at least.) 2 seasons out on her own, and wouldn't eat food given to her, nor get close to anyone. Finally, she followed Ds home.
Tux just showed up, and hid in the shadows for some time before he came out and began joining the formerly feral family.
The Siamese is still around only now and then.
Well, last night I heard a noise outside of our bedroom window. Dh carefully checked, hoping that it was just Tux, who likes to get on the roof, and not a bear.
It was neither. It was a gray and black striped cat who looks, he said, a lot like an unusually marked tabby that we had in the 90's named Quail.
We didn't see him today, but that's not unusual for these cats.
It's not lost on me that we've have fires on 3 sides of us, and now there's another cat out.
I don't know if I've been chosen to care for them, because I don't mind them, even though they often aren't 100% tame, even if they let you pet them, or brush them - in Mamou's case - when they want to, or if they are just attracted to my place because of the other cats, or if it's just that there are more out there than people know. After all, any of these cats could have been dumped by someone. We've had that happen before.
Whatever the case, I'll feed him if he wants to be fed, and stays.
So, maybe he's going to move on, but if he stays, he'll have to be named.
