Yes, I'm sure that they will figure out getting into their box, too. It's good to know that these aren't the only kids to not take right to it.
I used to get another mix of breeds, like buff orpingtons etc., but one year I got some, and they grew up into very sad hens. They weren't the same, physically or in behavior. And they were from the same good company that I always got them from.
At that time, I went to my feed store and they had some chicks from another well-known company, and I got a few. They were Ameracauna's. I got hooked on the health, behavior, and look of the birds. Then, when they grew up, the size of their eggs, and even the fact that they are mixed colors...blue, green, pink, and brown. (Not to be confused with 'Easter Eggers.')
So, since then, over 10 years, I base my breeds around them. I do like the look and behavior of the Wyandottes, and like to have a couple of the light brahma's.
I didn't get any others this time, as they didn't have them at this pandemic time. I have a couple of others that I really like, too.
I'm sorry that you don't have any now. Maybe you could start with 4 or 5 one of these days? Then you could expand, or not, as you wish?
Yes, one turkey, Chief Joseph. He's a heritage breed, and heck on wheels. He's a good watch bird! And, he tells off the crows, lol! :-)
Thank you for the candle!
