But, it's raining. A lot. We've had 3 1/4" so far, and there are 'lakes' around the house.
In the past 2 days we've found countless spiders, a tiny Jerusalem cricket, 2 young millipedes, etc...in the house.
But, the most concerning is Ribbitstilskin. Yes, really. Can you see Dh's fingerprints all over the name?
Anyway, the other day, we found Ribbit on the kitchen floor. Being a slab floor still, he looked pretty dehydrated, and sort of thin. He's tree frog, btw, and is a youngster, so kind of small.
Dh took him out, and put him in some water that had formed in the rain. Done.
Then, earlier today, he was back in the kitchen. So, Dh put him 20' away from the house, in a nice bit of water.
About 4 hrs. later, guess who was sitting calmly on the kitchen floor?
Well, there was no sense in putting him out again, especially since Uhura was stalking him!
So, we put him in our bug barn. Then, for a bath, we took a plastic, single serving, fruit cup container, and put water and a rock in it. Unfortunately, it wouldn't fit through the door, because it flares out at the top.
So, we clipped off the flare, and it fit, yeah!
The problem is, we don't have flies, worms, etc. right now. Weird weather.
So, I ordered $3. worth of small-sized, live, mealworms. Dh said that he would search for food tomorrow to get him through to the 2 days it will take them to arrive.
We have a larger, plastic critter/bug container that Dh is pretty sure that he knows where is.
We will let him go, once he fills out a little.
Meanwhile, he's in his fruit cup bathtub.
So, I guess that I'm going to be sharing my house with a 1,000 or so mealworms.
He'll almost certainly be let go before the worms are gone. I figure that the hens will enjoy what are left. Pretty much everything eats them, from birds to skunks!
