Belinda brought some of my totes of decorations and my tree up, yesterday. I still need to clean and do the pre-decorating organization before I can actually start decorating. But... since I will most likely not be celebrating w/ family on Christmas, I at least want to decorate. I am positive Arwen will be in the middle of everything. I will have to watch what I set on the floor as I unpack. She is quick and sneaky. I was cleaning out the fridge and set an open bag of snack size Milky Way bars right next to me. She managed to snatch one and when I realized it, was trying to swallow it whole, wrapper and all. I never even felt her get on the bag. It was the sudden quietness that made me go look for her.
I went to a tabletop tree a few years ago. She didn't bother it last year, after a few corrections and no-no's the first day. BUT... since last year, she has become quite adept at grabbing mail and other items off the table the tree sits on. So, I am pretty sure there will need to be some reinforcing of "leave it" and "no."
Most of my Christmas dolls, go out of her reach. I have a plush cat that meows a couple of Christmas carols. Last year, I discovered the cat, after 20+ years, had learned to walk. He sits in the rocking chair, but I would find him in my bedroom, the hallway, etc. 🙄
I don't know if I will make any treats. Not even sure I will get to human goodies. I do plan to make her some sweet potato chews. Those are easy. Slice, sprinkle a bit of cinnamon and slow bake.
Santa has already ordered her gifts. She is getting a snuffle mat and treats. Santa still hasn't figured out the cats. Apollo loves treats, but Aurora doesn't. Toys got put up, because Arwen was too destructive (and still is), when it comes to cat toys. They got a new cat tree last year, that is still in the box. They don't need new beds.
Even if there wasn't the pandemic, I wouldn't be able to take Arwen to see Santa. I will probably put her in a Christmas bandana or jingle bell collar and take pictures.
I'm still missing my boy. He loved Christmas and was into gifts, bandana wearing, pictures, decorating, etc. And now Misty is gone from the celebrations. Arwen and I need to discover something new, for us.
