There are 2 schools of thought.
A - That a legitimate breeder is the best bet, because of the small gene pool, to ensure good health.
B - Adopting from a breed rescue, because they have such varied personalities. That, if you get a full grown dog, you can choose the personality that suits you, as well as see if they have multiple allergies to everything from grass forward, because you would see the poor condition of the skin/fur if they did.
