The 2 that we lost are almost year olds, Ameracaunas, and the 2 that aren't well are a third Ameracauna, and our Brahma.
The 2 which we lost had pre-existing conditions, we think, and didn't have the weight on them that they should have, plus may have had egg issues.
But, we think that it was the heat that was the last blow.
Today is the last day of the heat advisory, and it's currently 116. It will go up a few degrees, most likely, by 6.
Dh is outside wetting the 2 other chickens down, to cool them.
The open water container, which is in the shade, was so hot as to be dangerous today. Dh dumped it, and started over, bringing out cool water from a bottle to make sure that it was the correct temperature. We also fill the water at night, when the water in the line is cooler. So, I don't know how cool water to a mister would be.
Anyway, any good thoughts and prayers for the other 2 hens would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
