When we had everything set up, I and my chair were secure, etc., Adam offered to take me for a short drive. Belinda came along. Ellen stayed to "guard" the passenger seat and the house, which wasn't shut up or locked. From her crate inside, Arwen could see us by and in the van, and the van leaving and returning. When we returned and took the pictures requested by our communications director, Adam brought the passenger seat inside, while Belinda pulled the van into the driveway. By this time, it had been an hour or more since Belinda had crated Arwen and given her the veggie dent.
We came in. Belinda asked if it was ok to let the dogs out of their crates. She let Arwen out first. Arwen still had her veggie dent in her mouth. She normally polishes one off in 10 minutes or less. By the time I realized this, Aragorn came running in and stole it away from Arwen. So he got his 1st veggie dent and Arwen got another one, which she proceeded to finish in no time flat.
I have gone places without Arwen. She goes in her crate and as we discussed down below, she most likely settles down and sleeps until I get home, since she is sometimes quiet when we pull up. This would have been the 1st time I went out in my power chair and left. Usually if I leave, the power chair is near her crate. She has gone places without me, but she is usually with Belinda.
Is this separation anxiety that I have never noticed before, because she has never watched me leave in my power chair. Was it just too much going on for her? She sees Adam periodically, but hasn't seen Ellen in probably just under 2 years.
A side note - she was a bit concerned about the strange vehicle in the driveway. I ended up putting Aragorn in his crate, and then took her for a walk, which meant she had to walk past the van and was able to see it up close, sniff it, etc.
