I think that he'll be easy to train also. The problem is, when a dog 'gets' things quickly, they can get into bad habits just as quickly. And, it's difficult to undo.
Even when not training, it seems like we're always training in some way.
So, for example, he's learning to be house trained, because that can't be put off. (I just ordered bells for the door.)
Plus, he had to learn to walk on a leash, where he can go or not go, where he's eating, how to behave when being fed (still working on that one.), what are his to chew, how to act around the cats, what words mean to stop what you're doing or that's great work, etc.
But, I'm laying out what I'd like him to learn once he's settled!
Some dogs don't do as well with crate training as others. I can imagine what you went through when you tried.
