Sometimes enforced naps are needed. I wish that it was as easy with human babies when they get over-tired, miss sleep, or become over-stimulated.
Every time Ds visits we have that situation with Krypto. A nap is what's needed to 'reset' him for the day.
I have found that, as a rule, cats run by coat color with habits/personality, too, to a degree. I've always found it fascinating. And, it makes sense with dogs, too, if you consider that a lot of coat colors or other physical features are gotten by adding in other genetics when breeding.
That's interesting about him pushing his crate mat aside.
Krypto is waiting until Monday to receive his crate mat and a bed. It's been so hot that he prefers to lie on the cooler floor most of the time, but when he wants to be more comfortable, he gets on one of our double wide chairs.
Yes, he has to be able to see us, too. Though, when he's been playing, he does basically pass out in various places. He may not be a herder like a Sheltie, or the herders that I've had (such as Australian Shepherd.), but GSD's were originally herders, as one of their jobs, and sometimes it really shows.
I don't blame Arwen a bit. That's too hot.
Krypto sleeps through the night, too. It's a pleasure to not have to get up. Originally, we had at least one potty break, but that seems to be done with.
It sounds like Aragorn is coming along really well.
If you get bored maybe you could update us on his classes?
