For years I have had various companies use pending in my bank, but again, always it was for the amount of an item.
I wonder, too, if which state you are in matters. I know that we have some pretty heavy laws here about what and when sellers can actually take money. For example, not until an item is actually being shipped.
If Amazon and Chewy have both gone to this system, I imagine that many big companies, from Walmart on, probably will too.
It's not the pending part that bothers me, but the fact that, regardless of what they later take, the # should reflect the actual cost. Maybe there's something about this that's eluding me, but it seems like a strange system to me.
I think that everyone who has problems with all of these new systems should tell the companies what they think. Perhaps sheer #'s of people, and losing some customers will have the desired effect.
