It's The Little Things That Make Life Such A Big Deal!
Sometimes my new
dogs come with names they already know, sometimes now. It depends on their circumstances. Most of the time I will keep their name if it is known, even if I don't care for it. Sometimes I'll choose a rhyming name, like changing Sally to Tally. If their name is not known and I have to choose it, I go through a lot of categories to help me come up with something: color of the dog (that's where Brassica came from - the scientific name of mustard; she's a gorgeous gold color); the season I adopted the dog (Nutmeg, Pilgrim, Cider were all adopted in the fall; Drummer near Christmas). One of my favorite names was Triskaideka, who I called Trisk. He was dog #13 at that time, and Triskaideka is the Greek word for 13. Chicory was named that because she came from Louisiana and chicory is a common food/drink item there. Sometimes I'll choose names from a TV series I'm watching at the time.
