Do you have plans for gifts/treats for the critters for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas?
Thanksgiving will be the time that I'm going to give the chickens their pumpkin. I had planned to already give it to them, but them Ds brought over their Jack O' Lantern. It was really cute, ddil carved it to look like a cat, whiskers and all. But, they didn't get their annual pumpkin seeds from it. So, I'll grind them up when we go to give them the pumpkin itself next week.
I have another antler for Krypto for Thanksgiving, and some chicken for the cats. Chicken is Mamou's favorite, far above meat, go figure!
When we do our big shopping again, after the first week of December, I will probably get apples for the chickens for Christmas to go with other produce that I will add to them. (The timing is good, because I generally prep produce after big shopping, so can give them all of the leaves, cuttings, etc. by freezing them until wanted.)
The cats...I don't know yet. My cats, except for Uhura, are lukewarm on toys at best, and they already get the foods that they like regularly. Perhaps we can give them some buffalo, which they already get. We put extra trimmings in containers in the freezer for later. It could be their Christmas dinner, which they would love, and I don't need to buy it.
Uhura has a couple of toys that she's never seen from when I got a little bag of toys for Henry, so I will give them to her...oh, my gosh, Henry! How could I forget Henry?! (Interrobang-esque!) I'm still not used to counting him in, I guess, even though he's been here a few weeks now. Henry *does* like toys.
I have a pop-up kitty tent and some brand new milk bottle caps that I can keep in reserve for Henry. Done! And, again, already here, no purchase required. Actually, aside from the apples, I have *everything* here already! Yeah!
Krypto will get 'stuff' rather than food for Christmas. I already have a double of his stuffed alligator, and if the Gnawsome ball could last just a little longer, I have a replacement set aside for that, too. He doesn't need any tack or beds, so the couple of toys will do nicely.
I'm looking forward to letting him open his own gifts, like other pups of mine have done. Well, maybe not paper with him...he already thinks that all paper is his. Perhaps I'll put them, one at a time, into a box, and let him put his head in and take them out.
How about you and your critters?
