As in, we are walking Krypto just before that, so that he, and Dh, are around as the light begins to fade. That way, Krypto will let us know if he detects a fox, plus the foxes will be discouraged from being in too close, with a human and a dog there.
And, instead of catching it within' a reasonable amount of time, Dh can see when all but Baby are in their houses.
Baby is a very small hen. We don't know why she is smaller than the others. She's sort of the 'runt of the litter', if chickens had litters. And, as such, the full-sized hens keep her from getting into the houses, as their bulks block the doorway.
So, each night, when he locks down the houses, Dh looks for where in the run Baby is lying down, picks her up, and puts her in with the others.
Hopefully, this will be enough.
Also, speaking of animals...
A few days ago, Ds had to go outside, so he took the baby for a little walk. They had gotten to the front of a neighbor's house when 3 elk leaped out from wherever they were.
Ds immediately thought of an escape plan, should things not go well...such as putting Thyri over a fence, because one of the animals was acting more aggressive than the others, pushing another one with his muzzle.
Plus, the elk had no intention of going anywhere, so Ds picked the baby up and they went back the way that they had come. I don't believe that they've actually had elk come into their walking area before.
Meanwhile, the baby, who has learned what a cow is, and says 'moo' when she sees one, took a look at the elk and said, "Moo!" She has a ways to go still.
So, between the salmon, foxes, and elk, it's been quite the nature week around here! Oh, and Ds's boss got a photo of another bobcat. He's much darker than the last one, with actual black on him. The boss thinks that he's a subspecies.
