It's The Little Things That Make Life Such A Big Deal!
Aragorn saw vet on Tuesday for possible UTI.
Turns out, after a urinalysis and blood work, it isn't a UTI, but he has crystals in his urine. So... vet wants to put him on Hill's c/d. I am torn, because I am not a fan of Hill's. After all their diet food my SC vet wanted PJ on, was 33% peanut hulls. BUT, I can't and don't want to risk Aragorn becoming blocked or developing bladder stones. Unlike the formula pets are often put on temporarily to aid with appetite or digestive issues with an illness, this would be a life long diet. Plus, Hill's prescription is EXPENSIVE! Almost $85 for a 17.7 lb bag of food. Belinda suggested I mix with Purina's urinary health food, which she can get 1/2 price for me, since she worked for vets for several years. She says it is basically the same thing as Hill's c/d.
Anyone have any experience with c/d? Or Purina's prescription food for urinary health?
Oh, he weighed 23.4 lbs at this appointment.
