I've been having some computer problems, but I am here now, whew!
Do your dogs have a particular time of day when they want/need to get some exercise, and does that ever interfere with your plans, when they should run and play, etc.?
For example, do they want to play when you have a show on, are ready to eat dinner, etc.?
Or, do they want to play after having eaten?
Krypto gets the 'zoomies' most often in the afternoon, and at night. I blame myself for that, because we started playing ball with him at night (because we can in the house as things are.) so that he'd be ready for bed within' a short time, and because it was long enough after he'd had dinner. It's not a problem for us, but it may not be the best time.
And, we have a 2 hr. rule. I don't want him playing within' 2 hrs. of a meal. Yet, he seems to always feel like playing within' that time frame.
What I've always done is have a 'chew bone' that he can lie down and chew on anytime between a meal and the time when he can get up and play, but when I had to take his soft toys away from him at the worst of his teething, the line blurred between anytime-toys, and after-meal toys.
I am trying to decide if I should set aside his Nyla toys, his elk antler, or his new rocking chew toy. One will go up, only to be given after a meal.
Sometimes he decides to play a version if fetch without us, and will zoom around the house by himself, carrying and throwing his own toys, which are not his fetch toys. (No one in their right mind would throw toys that hard and heavy in the house!)
We have special balls just for fetch, but when he's ready to play, he's ready to play. I'm sure that a lot of it is his age.
How about your pups?
