Luckily I had Charlie wearing his halter and his leash. I was walking him when out from nowhere came the neighbors dog.
His dog attacked my chain link fence. Charlie dragged me towards the dog but it took all my energy to pull, tug, him back towards a cedar tree trunk and away from the fence.
I began screaming for my neighbor. A number of cars drove down the hill. I am sure I have a very bad reputation now.
My neighbor finally sent his girlfriend outside. The dog was over by my fence and she asked me what I wanted her to do. I told her VERY LOUDLY to put the dog on a leash, take it inside, etc. I used a bad word because she was DUH!!!???
my neighbor yelled that I should n't use bad language to her.
I was pulling Charlie as hard as possible to keep him from pulling away from the tree trunk around which I had wrapped his leash.
We exchanged words. He said he can let his dog run free and I said this isn't a ranch.... this is a neighborhood and no you can't.
We continued to exchange words as I managed to drag Charlie to the front door. She had moved his dog into the house.
Once inside I was shaking though Charlie was calmed down somewhat. I released him then called Animal Control for my county.
The woman listened to me and said I was in the right as it was my yard. That if I saw his dog loose in the street to call them immediately and they would pick the dog up. Call the neighbor and fine him.
Apparently dogs are not to be running free off the owners property. I was kinda banged up a bit but not enough to need caring.
So we talked for an hour. And I am to have my phone with me all the time. Even though Boy & I are going to try to create more protection for Charlie.
One way will be to open the 10 x 6 x 10 x 6 foot kennel so that it can be attached to the fence the dog goes to most often.
Also we have to come up with a method of keeping the dog away from the fence along the road.
None of this will be easy.
Fed Ex arrived a few moments ago and guess who met them at my gate? Yep the dog.
I took my package to my porch and the FedEx driver left. The dog I think followed the truck. I called Animal Control and they will send someone out when they can.
I'll let you know how it turns out. Dang It!!!
