It's not a typical feeder. It's glass that's a pretty green (as opposed to a blech green.) and it's shaped like a saguaro cactus. I have an ant trap above it, and there are the typical flowers at the bottom.
We were just measuring it, and Ds was crimping the hooks on either end of the ant trap. He questioned whether or not a hummingbird would come to a green feeder, then got back on the phone with my T.V. company, as my brand new dvr isn't working, but that's another story.
He was talking about getting the generator from the fields, and going home, when I said, "What's that? Oh, no! It's a hummingbird!"
It was buzzing the feeder, but there was nothing in it yet!
So we hustled to fill it with food, and re-hung it. Sheesh! So far, the hummer hasn't returned, but I can see the feeder from my chair, so am keeping an eye on it.
The funny thing is, Ds hasn't seen any at his place in a couple of weeks, so maybe they will return there, as well.
One thing that I really like about this feeder, is that it can be filled from the top, as we were just recently discussing. The bottom opens, too, but for help with cleaning, I think.
Ds was able to take the food out there, go a couple of steps up a ladder, open the top, and fill it. That's a big help.
So, anyway, I was excited to see a hummingbird checking out the feeder that just went up!
