Have you ever seen one? The easy way to identify them compared to other slender animals of that size is the tail.
Normally, they are up to their ears in raccoons, skunks, etc. So, finding a baby Ringtail that needed raising was an unusual event.
The other common name here, aside from Ringtailed Cat, is Miner's Cat. The miner's here would let them come into their cabins in the woods, and they would keep them rodent free.
