What are your favorite critters in commercials, T.V. shows, or movies?
Interestingly, there really aren't any pets in the more modern shows that I watch. I don't know why.
Remember the old days when My Three Sons had Tramp, Hazel had Smiley, Petticoat Junction had the dog who played Benji, Longstreet had a white German shepherd...and for that matter, so did Jack LaLane?
There were also Trigger, Buttermilk, Silver, and the other horses. Of course, they've done away with Westerns.
None of which counted any of the Lassies, Flipper, Skippy the kangaroo, or Rin Tin Tin.
Where have all of the T.V. pets gone?
Also, question 2:
Did any show, or person, influence your choice of dog breed? If your have a mix, a previous dog breed? Or, perhaps just really liking a breed, even if you have never had it.
My last 3 choices of dogs have been influenced by my childhood.
I always wanted a dachshund, from the time that I was 4 or 5. I had a photo of one with a child. So, when Jet came to us, I was happy to have him.
Our neighbors had a black standard poodle, and she was an amazing dog. Then, the neighbors on the other side of us got a small standard black poodle. She was very old, and I dog sat for her sometimes...and taught her tricks. She was quite old, but still smart as a whip. Once again, I was happy to get Tango, and wasn't disappointed.
As for German shepherds, I've known some nice ones. I almost got a big shepherd pup once, from a family friend who had a litter, but at that time my parents were not impressed with the idea. Then, a dog named Duke, who I believe was heaven sent to me, visited me until the time that he got me out of a very bad situation. He never came back after that, but left a lasting impression on me.
When I was looking for a dog the last time, I looked at every dog there was. Mixed breeds, herders, and so forth. I looked for adults first. But, most could not live with cats, weren't good with children, couldn't be around chickens, etc. I knew that someday I wanted either another Doberman or a GSD, but I wasn't looking for either this time. And, every dog was spoken for the first day that they were available. Until I saw Krypto's litter in the pound. I called as soon as they went onto the pound's site.
How about you?
