Spicebush Swallowtail butterfly. It was huge and wider then my hand palm and thumb together. Theya re 4.5 inches wide so it had to be 1/2 larger then my hand. It lay in the driveway and I had moments to take in it's beauty and size and be astounded all at the same time. It seemed to attempt to fly and I thought it had been injured but it finally took off down the street. The butterflies oof all kinds and colors are still all over the place. Slower lower in number but still enough to be a could of color when they gather. The other kinds I have seen close up are: Queen a rust red with tiny white spots olong the edge of the upper wing. Monarch not as many as when they started to form clouds of all types. Cloudless Sulphur are theonly all yellow ones I have seen Cabbage White in fair numbers There were more but their designs were hard to make out. Overall glorious clouds of colors. 8-) |
