What the...?!
Then I heard a cat growling a couple of 'rooms' over, and it wasn't Mamou. He will growl, Uhura does not. Dh looked over and said that she had a large mouse. Eegads!
No wonder she trounced Mamou. He probably got too close to her 'prize.' That also explains the growling.
So, Dh dealt with it...that's kind of one of our agreements: I make the food, he deals with the cats' catches.
We are fairly certain that it came in a hole near the heater. There have to be holes to have the heater. Most people don't notice them, or have things come in them, because they have their walls on!
Anyway, I have a bag of brand new traps that I've had for a long time, so we will set some around the heater area near the hole, and in a couple of key places, just in case, such as in the back room.
Hopefully, that was a fluke, like the bird that time, the bat...yikes...and now this. But, it's cold out, so they might periodically try to get in. Maybe between the traps and Uhura, there won't be a problem.
I don't keep food out, at least. What's not in the pantry is in totes. I won't even throw a napkin that was used around food in a wastebasket in a room other than the kitchen, and the kitchen trash is up out of the way.
At least Uhura is an excellent huntress, as we all painfully know.
What I've learned over the past few decades, is that my great male cat hunters rarely do so in the house. The females who are great hunters, however, do capture rodents - inside or out. Apparently, Uhura is one of those, and I hope that this was a one time need.
Too early. Way too early to be running around the house after a cat with a rodent and stopping a cat trouncing at 4:30 A.M. Sheesh!
