Answer: From koalas, who can sleep up to 22 hours a day, to giraffes, who receive just a few hours of sleep each day, scientists believe that virtually all animals need sleep. Yet, the bullfrog is unique in that it can survive without sleeping for months at a time. Although they shut their eyes and rest, they remain alert during these periods. According to research, even while resting, these enormous amphibians were awake enough to respond to stimuli and show changes in respiration. Bullfrogs will, however, maintain a deep sleep during hibernation in the winter.
