...different then the ones in L.A.

In L.A., the bats flew high, and you could hear them echolocating. They never got in anything unless they were sick, and pretty much everyone knew better that to approach a bat on the ground, during the day, etc.

When we got here, my first experience were bats flying near our heads. Then, at the lake, we almost got hit by them as they chased bugs. All my life and one never got close to us while it hunted.

So, very different bats overall.
