It wasn't easy finding a food that would work, but I finally did, sort of. But, after eating in the house his whole life, Krypto has to have meals on the front porch now, as I can't be around it. Feeding was my job, up until now. I think that I minded the change more than he did, though. He's eating fine.
A lot of the foods had regular potatoes in them, corn, soy, etc. I finally found one that didn't. It's a salmon and sweet potato food. It's got 2 legumes and pumpkin in it. Okay for him, at least.
He likes it, but started gaining weight on it immediately. I was surprised. So, I had to stop comparing amounts of the 2 foods, and cut back the amount that he's getting. He still seems completely satisfied.
One thing that I love, is that it contains taurine. I've suspected for a while that not just cats, but dogs, should get taurine. I think that, one day, this deficiency will be dealt with by adding it to foods routinely. So that, especially, makes me happy.
What Hira gets close to finishing the food that I bought for her, I'll start mixing this one in to change her over.
I knew that she was underweight, but after she'd been here for a couple of days, I could really see it, despite her fur. Her backbone was sticking up, and her ribs were out too far. She's already gaining weight slowly, and steadily. So, Krypto's food should work well for her, if it puts weight on her like it has him.
Ds says that, besides the terrible worm infestation, that he thinks that the big husky was eating both his and her foods. That could be. None of that here, though.
Well, that was it. I've just been meaning to post this info.
