I understand the gates. In L.A. we finally chained one of ours.
The new, temporary area out the front door has a gate. It's one of those square 'U' shaped latches, and if a dog hits it just right, it can open. Dh is looking for something to fix it with.
Yes, husky's are known for that. I had the strangest experience with them growing up. 3 different husky's started getting out around the same time, and they ended up at our house every time. One only once, because he didn't like waiting in the attached garage for his person to arrive and pick him up after we called them.
The other 2 came over a couple of times each, then stopped. Somehow their people worked on keeping them in.
In the first place, what were the chances of 3 dogs of the same breed finding us? But, in the 2nd, they were all named Ralph! They definitely belonged to different people at different addresses. Their names and addresses were on their tags.
After that, I never found one again. It was very odd, and interesting.
How nice that you tried to catch the one there. And, excellent that he went to his person. Dug out? I can believe that! They are definitely escape artists, and like a bit of adventure!
