What animal was vaccinated for the STD clamydia recently? * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Koala Bear. Koala bears have had clamydia for a while now, and it's devastating to the species. While 10% had it a few years ago, that # is up to 80% now. It's causing sterility, and death. Koala's have a special physical feature which allows them to eat eucalytus, and not be affected by the chemicals in it. That same feature has kept them from reaping benefits from antibiotics. They are hoping that this newest version of the vaccine against the disease will be the solution, or else they will become extinct at the rate in which breeding is being taken off the table for them. |
